Announcements
The JN welcomes announcements for baby arrivals, engagements, weddings and milestone anniversaries for placement in our Mazel Tov! Section.
All announcements may be submitted online by clicking on the links below or they may be mailed to the Detroit Jewish News at 29200 Northwestern Highway, Suite 110, Southfield, MI 48034. Please be sure to include all necessary information, photos, and payment.
There is a $10 announcement fee for Births. Anniversaries, Weddings and Engagements are $18 each. There remains no charge for b’nai mitzvah or milestone birthday (age 90+) announcements.
Before submitting your announcement, please make note of the information to be included. Incomplete submissions will be delayed.
Anniversary Announcement
When submitting your announcement, please be sure to include the following information: date and number of anniversary, names of couple, and city of residence for the couple. Submitted photos must be of professional quality as determined by our Creative Services Department. We reserve the right to publish in black and white any photos that do no meet this standard.
Bar/Bat Mitzvah Announcement
When submitting your announcement, please be sure to include the following information: student's name, Hebrew name, city & state, name of synagogue and ceremony date, names of parents, siblings and grandparents, school name and city, names and places or work done for project. Only one mitzvah or work project will be listed.
Birth/Adoption Announcement
Announcements are open to members of the Jewish community. When submitting your announcement, please be sure to include the following information: date of birth & gender of new child, parent's names and names of siblings, city of residence, grandparents' & great-grandparents' name with city of residence, and child's namesake. We will accept all announcements as long as they will be able to run before the first birthday.
Engagement Announcement
When submitting your announcement, please be sure to include the following information: names of bride- and groom-elect, names of parents of the bride & groom including city and state, bride- and groom-elect's educational backgrounds and current employers, and the date and location of ceremony.
Obituary Announcement
Obituaries are submitted to The Jewish News for those funerals handled by Ira Kaufman Chapel, Hebrew Memorial Chapel and Alan Dorfman Funeral Direction. Families whose funeral has been handled by one of these homes should not contact the paper to place an obituary.
Those wishing to notify the community of out-of-town deaths can sumbit the notice here. If not submitted by the funeral home, obituaries are $90 for up to 150 words. Photos are equal to 30 words. If the photo was taken more than 5 years ago, please indicate an approximate date. Deadline for announcements is Monday at noon for that week's paper.
Special Obituary Announcement
Obituaries are submitted to The Jewish News for those funerals handled by Ira Kaufman Chapel, Hebrew Memorial Chapel and Alan Dorfman Funeral Direction. Families whose funeral has been handled by one of these homes should not contact the paper to place an obituary.
Those wishing to notify the community of out-of-town deaths with a Detroit connection can submit here. If not submitted by the funeral home, special (extended) obituaries are $180 for 151-300 words. Photos are equal to 30 words. Deadline for announcements is Monday at noon for that week's paper.
Wedding Announcement
When submitting your announcement, please be sure to include the following information: names of the bride and groom, place of ceremony and names of the rabbi and cantor, synagogue/temple name, names of the parents of the bride and groom along with their city and state of residence, names of the maid of honor, bridesmaids, best man and ushers along with names of other participants, where the couple honeymooned and where they reside.
